Garden & Plant Services
Why Choose Us for Garden & Plant Services?
Healthy gardens need more than just watering. They need proper planting, pruning, soil care, and someone who understands what grows well in this part of Ontario. As a Certified Horticulturist with over 15 years of experience, Ted brings real plant knowledge to every job — not just someone with a pair of shears and a truck.
Our garden and plant services cover everything from designing and planting new flower beds to maintaining existing ones. We handle shrub trimming and shaping, perennial division, mulching, soil amendment, and seasonal colour planting. If you have trees that need pruning or hedges that have gotten out of hand, we take care of that too.
We work with plants that actually thrive in Scarborough's climate. That means choosing species that handle our winters, our clay-heavy soils, and the amount of sun your specific yard gets. Whether you are in Agincourt, Birch Cliff, or up near Milliken, we will recommend plants that look good and last — not just whatever is on sale at the garden centre.

Garden & Plant Services — Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our garden & plant services services in Scarborough.
When is the best time to plant new gardens?
Spring and early fall are the best planting windows in Scarborough. Spring gives plants a full growing season to establish roots, and fall planting lets them settle in before winter dormancy. We avoid planting in the heat of July and August when transplant stress is highest.
Can you redesign my existing garden beds?
Absolutely. We can rework existing beds — remove overgrown or struggling plants, amend the soil, and replant with a design that works better for the space. Many of our clients in North York and Scarborough have older gardens that just need a refresh, not a complete tearout.
Do you handle large tree pruning?
We handle pruning for small to medium trees and all shrub work. For large tree removals or high canopy work requiring bucket trucks, we coordinate with a certified arborist we trust and can manage the whole process for you.
How much does a garden bed installation cost?
A new garden bed typically runs $500 to $2,000 depending on size, soil prep needed, and plant selection. That includes soil amendment, plants, and mulch. We provide a detailed quote after visiting the property so you know exactly what you are getting.
What plants do you recommend for shaded yards in Scarborough?
For shaded areas, we recommend hostas, astilbe, ferns, heuchera (coral bells), brunnera, and bleeding heart. These plants thrive in Scarborough's climate and provide beautiful foliage even in deep shade. For partial shade, hydrangeas, Japanese anemones, and wild geraniums do very well. Ted will assess your specific light conditions and recommend the right mix.
Do you provide ongoing garden maintenance?
Yes. Many clients who hire us for garden installation continue with regular maintenance — seasonal pruning, deadheading, weeding, mulch top-ups, and plant health monitoring. Having the team that designed and built your garden also maintain it means nothing gets overlooked and your plants receive proper care year-round.
Can you create a low-maintenance garden?
Absolutely. We specialize in designing gardens that look great with minimal upkeep. The key is choosing the right plants — native perennials, ornamental grasses, and tough shrubs that do not need constant attention. Combined with proper mulching and soil preparation, a well-designed garden can thrive with just a few maintenance visits per season.
Do you do seasonal flower planting?
Yes. We offer spring and summer annual planting to add colour to your garden beds, containers, and window boxes. We select varieties that perform well in Scarborough's climate and provide continuous blooms from May through October. Many clients schedule seasonal colour planting as part of their spring cleanup visit.
